Lesson #11

“Who care’s if you’re not perfect? Let yourself off the hook!”

Welcome to 1000 Lessons.

I’m going to keep this one short and to the point šŸ™‚

1000 Lessons template
It’s OK to make mistakes. Holding onto perfectionism keeps you where you are. Give yourself the gift of Freedom

The best things you create come from the mistakes you’ve made in the past. Everything is a learning experience. Letting go of perfectionism opens up the world to you. Who care’s if you’re not perfect? Let yourself off the hook!
Practice colouring outside the lines, not apologizing for mistakes and being who you are. Freedom is yours if you just let go.

Lesson 10

“Ever since the decision to leave the house, with the intention of meeting new people, my life has changed”

Welcome to 1000 Lessons.

Wow! My tenth blog has arrived. What I want to share in celebration today is the power of connection. In choosing to build a better life for myself, I decided that it was time to start spending time with people that are “who I want to be”.

I used to be really worried that if I ventured out I might get rejected, excluded or looked down at by these successful people. Even the voice in my head would suggest that instead of going out, why not stay in and watch YouTube… again. *sigh* What a bore! I had, at this point decided I needed to get out and that these thoughts could take a break that night and I went out anyway damn it!

Ever since the decision to leave the house, with the intention of meeting new people, my life has changed. As an example last night, I was at a celebratory function (of a group I joined) and I met not one, but TWO actors from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies! Not only that, I started connecting with these people on Facebook. I enjoyed my time meeting them so if I want to meet these amazing people again, they can find me or I can find them. We’ll line up an coffee or tea and build our friendship. There is nothing quite like building strong relationships with people who you view as a superstar. Chances are that they look at you like that too.

Lesson 10
If you want to change your life, Change your habits

The other thing that I learned is that by putting your self out there, you will find support. It amazes me every time that I head out I always am surprised to meet someone new and fantastic. When I am vulnerable and willing to share what I need help with, that person often can either offer advice or point me to someone who can help me. Also because I am building my network of friends, I now find myself helping people out too! Note, that I am going out with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. If I was to go out otherwise, chances are these great people would not want to spend time with me or I might attract people that I don’t view with High regard.

The other benefit I got from getting out and about was authentic human connection. I learned to be open & honest so other people could be open & honest with me. I saw people for who they were and not a mask. It’s like you give them permission to be open with you too. By being myself, the people who truly like me have become great friends and allies. I learned that I could escape my situation and begin a new life outside of the one I was stuck in. All I had to do was move past my doubts and anxiety. Once I did that, it was like my world changed.

Special note – I have been getting busier and busier lately, so my blog posts will still be happening, just not as rapidly as they have been in the past. I also hope that this will enable me to produce better quality stuff for you to read. Many thanks šŸ™‚

Lesson #9

I used to watch people (jealously) jumping into situations while thinking things to myself like ‘of course they can do that! They are so much better than me, more confident etc’

Welcome to 1000 Lessons.

A common thing that I help my clients with is reaching ‘that gleaming something’ they desire.

I suggest solutions to their problems and I can forget, something that seems easy to me can look daunting and scary to them. Sometimes your desire feels like a big cold swimming pool. You can either dive in and suffer a small shock of the cold water or you can tip toe in. Which we all know can take much longer, and sometimes we back out entirely after feeling the chill shatter the warmth of our comfortable skin!

You know swimming in the pool will bring you joy, some thoughts can stop you from jumping in however. Here are some fine examples; Its cold, wet, too deep, Iā€™ll catch a cold, I canā€™t swim, Iā€™ll drownā€¦ Itā€™s these types of thoughts in your head that are preventing you from jumping in, right? As an adult and consciously aware human you know you want to jump in and enjoy the swim, but your thoughts and underlying beliefs (that you already confirm to be true) are whatā€™s stopping you.

There is nothing wrong with you. You just have to find ways to rid yourself of these “truths” so you can enjoy a lovely dip in the pool. You can ease in if you’re feeling the fear and anxiety or if you want to fast track your experience you need to jump in as soon as possible. I used to watch people (jealously) jumping into situations while thinking things to myself like ‘of course they can do that! They are so much better than me, more confident etc’. But the truth is that those people don’t have the fear stopping them and they sure as hell were not better than me. They are enjoying themselves and reaping the rewards because they don’t even entertain the idea of doubt and fear.

Lesson #9
What you desire is on the other side of your fear

The best way to combat fear and doubt is by strengthening your resolve. Just like how you go to the gym to get stronger, you must head on down the the mental gym and give your self a workout. Set goals that give you a little sense of fear, but are totally achievable. Here’s an example, let’s say that you have a fear of heights. Instead of going straight for the plane demanding a window seat (which you will do eventually), climb the 1st level of a 30 level building. Then look out the window. Then maybe after that climb to the 5th level. If that doesn’t scare you, climb to the 10th and put your head out the window. Keep going up until you reach the fear point where butterflies are fluttering in your stomach. Now, you know where the trigger for your fears begin. It’s at this point you are facing your fear. You have two choices. Back down and continue to live in fear. Or push past and prove to yourself that you have the willpower to move past your fear despite it’s best attempts to stop you.

When you decide to push past your fears, the world will open up to you. But don’t think you can practice this once and think to yourself that it’s over. Fear is always there waiting for you. It doesn’t want you reaching your dreamsĀ  of getting to the top level of that building and if you let it stop you, you will never reach the top. You must in an attempt to get your life back on track face your fears and push past them anyway. The more you practice, the more you will start to resemble the confident person you actually are. The reason you have these fears is because somewhere on your journey you let fear stop you and it began ruling your life. Your fear has you on a tight leash and you don’t even know it until it pulls the yoke. Once you build the strength to break free of the chains holding you down you will experience total freedom.

When you start taking your life back you will glow with confidence, happiness and bravado. Just keep telling your self that you can do it and that you will do it. Then, give fear the middle finger and do it anyway!

Lesson #7

“The truth is that there are a lot more people out there who love you and appreciate you than those that don’t”

Welcome to 1000 Lessons.

A long time ago in a far away *cough cough*… When I was younger. I didn’t know who I was, have any role models, nor did I know who I wanted to be. There is nothing more frustrating than not knowing who you are. The things that used to rattle in my head sounded like ‘people wont like you’ and ‘if you do that, people will judge you’ among other things when I wanted to be myself.

What really hurt was looking in the mirror (looking beyond the physical) into my soul and seeing someone who wasn’t happy.Ā It took me many years of struggling with my self before I realised the truth. The truth was that yes, some people are going to judge me and some people won’t like me. The truth is that there are a lot more people out there who love you and appreciate you than those that don’t. The trick is to decide WHO you give your energy to. BUT the added bonus is when you are who you truly are the people that don’t like you can’t hurt you anyway because they don’t become a priority.

Lesson #7

When I started meditating on the best version of myself, asking what I really wanted from life and what I deserve, I started to feel better because the ultimate version of myself felt amazing. Not only that, I put my energy where I wanted to be. The more and more I focused on that reality the more I started acting like I was in that reality. The future me created an escape from my current reality into an amazing one.

I act and live like the best version of myself now and doing so puts me in a state of mind that rectifies all the old beliefs that were crushing me. I feel alive again. It’s no surprise that when you decided to be who you are the world rewards you with joy and happiness. So please do what ever it takes to shine. The world deserves to see you at your best and YOU deserve everything your heart desires. But you can’t have it if you can’t be who you really are. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Lesson #6

“I knew that IĀ had to do something about it so I could perform amazingly and so I got to learning HOW”

Welcome to 1000 Lessons.

If by now you haven’t guessed, I love self-development. I teach and preach only what I know works. If you ever feel drained, tired or lacking the energy to get through your day here’s how I learnt how to create my own energy. I’d like to point out before I get into the finer details, that I didn’t learn this or create this all on my own. I read a lot of self-development books and it’s all sort of added up.

It wasn’t until I did an online test to see what I was lacking so I could perform at my best, I realised that I needed to work on my energy. I was the type of person that would only get out of bed when I absolutely had to, sleep in past midday, arrive at work tired, get droopy throughout the day and yawn yawn yawn. It was no surprise to me when I saw my energy rating below everything else I was scoring. I knew that I had to do something about it so I could perform amazingly and so I got to learning HOW.

Lesson #6

You have to learn how to let go of the energy you carry. As an example let’s say you’re going to give someone a blast because they haven’t done what you told them to do. Then after you blast them you are still fuming because they are still not listening! And after this, you have a date with your partner who has to hear about this idiot who wouldn’t listen. Frustrating right? What if instead, before you decide you are going to be angry at someone, you let go of that angry energy, then decide that you will bring a different more positive energy so you can talk to them calmly. Then after that conversation, you again let go of that calm energy and decide to bring a high vibe energy to the hot date you have after work. You wouldn’t want to bring the angry energy with you, but sometimes you do because you just can’t let go of how angry that idiot makes you feel. Not only that, your date probably doesn’t want to hear about your terrible day at work either.

All you have to do is meditate for at least one minute. Breathe deep, get comfortable and let go of your energy. Then after you have done that ask yourself how you can bring a new energy (preferably positive) to the next part of you day. It’s that easy!

This worked for me so well, it’s part of my daily habit. Plus now I feel amazing at every junction in my day. I encourage you to try this and see how it works for you!

Lesson #5

“I asked myself if what I was hearing was really true. Was I really unhappy?”

Welcome to 1000 Lessons.

One thing that I never anticipated when I started chasing my dreams were the negative people. I knew that the Universe was going to throw curve balls at me but not in ways that would really get to me on an emotional level. I was prepared for financial setbacks, physical problems and things of that nature but not the people that I thought would supportĀ  me. If it’s one thing that I know now, it’s that when you are growing, taking leaps of faith and risking everything to chase your dream, there are going to be contrasting types of people who interact with you. The first kind of people love you and will support you no matter what. Some other kinds of people love you too, but they will try to project their fears on you. These are the people that I learnt to distance myself from.

I struggled for days trying figure out why these people weren’t supporting me. Why, when I am reaching for my full potential were these people not seeing what I was seeing? Not only was I upset, I felt horrible because I knew these people loved me and only wanted to see me happy. But what they were saying made me feel the opposite.

I took some time to myself and wrote down what was reverberating the most in my head (some of the things I was hearing and being told). “You’re not happy and you won’t ever be” this was the fish I had to fry. This had become a belief of mine because I kept repeating it and I couldn’t stop it. So here’s what I did to move past the crippling emotions and belief holding me back.

I questioned the belief. I asked myself if what I was hearing was really true. Was I really unhappy? No, of course not! I’m having the time of my life pursuing my dreams. Can I control who supports me and who doesn’t? No I can’t. They are free to do as they please. And did I have to take on board what they were saying? Heck No! It might be that they are seeing me grow and evolve while questioning why they themselves are not. Who really knows. The truth is that not everyone is going to support you, and that’s totally OK! When you are growing and following your dreams you will find that there are many more people who want to see you succeed then there are those who don’t.

Lesson #5

Follow your dreams and everything will work out. If you are experiencing anything like this, know that it’s a positive sign. You are doing great and these people will pop up from time to time. When you get good at questioning your beliefs these people only work to make you stronger.
